Welcome to crazyhorsedanes. We are from the Kansas City Missouri Area

Thank you for taking the time to visit our site. As you have made your way around we are sure you have noticed a few things that we are not very good at. Such as website designing, photography, writing, etc.. Hopefully you can look past that and see the quality in our pups and all the love and hard work we have put into them and our breeding program.
We breed for health, longevity, temperament, conformation, structure, size & color. In that order. Everyone wants a perfect looking dane that is huge. But a lot of breeders lose track of the fact that none of that will matter if your pup is sick all the time, dies young or is so out of control that it has to be locked away some where or worse put to sleep. We strive to produce the complete package and  very well rounded socialized pups.
We offer 24/7  breeder support, a two year written health guarantee, buyer/seller agreement, AKC registration forms, micro-chipped and registered for life, heartworm protection, flea prevention, Age appropriate wormings and shots ,  vet exams and all the paperwork that goes with the before mentioned.
A lot of breeders (good and bad) are into "do it yourself " vet care. Either to save themselves as much money as they can or because they feel that they are experts and therefor are not going to pay someone to do what they can do themselves. Our pups are vet examined (usually two, three or more times depending on their age) not just looked over by us. About the only thing we do ourselves is dewormings and we get the wormer from our vet. Everything else like micro-chipping, their shots, etc. come from the vets. Yes, we know giving shots is easy and that most people can give them. The problem isn't giving the shots, it's the shots themselves and where they came from and how they have been stored etc. We are not going to take a chance with our pups health by buying them from our local feed store or from off of E bay,  just to save a little money. Nor are we gonna buy them from anywhere online or from a catalog and worry about having them shipped to us and hope they were shipped correctly and in a timely manner as so that they don't go bad during the process. It's easy to say "all of our puppies are healthy, and if one got sick then we would take it to the vet. True, but why not let a vet examine them? That is their profession, it's what they do. We are not naive enough to think that if there was ever a problem that we would catch it as early as they would. Plus we are always more than happy to have a chance to socialize and show off our pups to the vets and their staff.
We know our dogs and their pedigrees well. NO hip, elbow, spine, heart, wobblers, thyroid, or eye issues that we have found. One dog died from bloat at the age of 5. One dog had breast cancer, but she still made it to almost 9 years old. Another dog was PTS at 8 years old because of fibrosarcoma (cancer in his lower jaw). There were also a couple that died too young but they were both from birthing complications. Most dogs from our lines are either still alive or made it to 8-12 years. We wish we could say that there has never been any health issues in any of our dogs lines. Truth is, all lines of Danes have some issues somewhere and if a breeder says otherwise either they are not being honest or they haven't looked back past a couple of generations. We have gone back anywhere from 5 to 10 generations in our research.
We don't make a living from pup sales nor do we try to, we sell them at affordable prices so the average person doesn't have to settle for a poorly bred dane that looks more like a lab with an unknown  background and no guarantee, help or support from the breeder when needed. For us if we sell them cheaper than others we get more people interested and have more homes to pick from. This insures our pups  a better chance of getting the perfect forever home. We don't breed back to back heats, a lot of times we don't even breed every other heat. We retire our females earlier than most breeders and we do not rehome them.
Our dogs live in our home with us not outside in cages and not in kennel buildings (not even fancy heated and cooled buildings) And by "in our home" we do not mean in a back room or out in the garage.  It doesn't matter how nice or comfortable it would be for them, Danes need to be with their families. Our pups are whelped inside and remain there from day one till the day they leave. They do get to go out for socialization, trips to the vet and supervised play. But we don't move them  out to the backyard, shed, barn or kennels when they get a little bit older, noisier, or start to be too messy, etc. as others do. You won't get the loving, well adjusted companion that you deserve if it isn't raised with constant human interaction.
No puppy will leave before he/she is 8 weeks old, we would prefer 9 weeks if being shipped. If you would like a pup from us great, let us know but if  getting a pup from us isn't an option at this time, that's fine also. Either way look around our website and let us know if you have any questions. Thank you for your time and for considering  a crazyhorsedane.
