SHIPPING We have shipped puppies from coast to coast. We use American Airlines and ship out of MCI (Kansas City Mo). They have climate controlled aircraft as well as great personal and security to make sure your puppy is well cared for and arrives to you safe and sound. Price includes pet carrier, vet exam, health certificate and all airline fees. Price depends on the size of the puppy. It is usually between $300 and $350. NO puppies will be shipped before 8 weeks of age. We prefer to wait till they are 9 weeks old so they can have their second set of shots.

MICRO-CHIPS
While we have been a huge believer in micro-chipping for years and have always recommended that new owners have their pups chipped. It seems like most never did it and for various reasons. They just never got around to it, didn't want to spend the extra money, no time, etc. When talking to other breeders we found out they had the same thing happening and some even did the chipping themselves and then the new owners never registered the chips. We still do not quite understand why but we do understand that things happen and people get busy so we decided that we would now not only have all our pups micro-chipped that we would register them also. We will use your info from our contract. All you need to do is provide us a second phone number and after you get your puppy home you will have to supply HomeAgain some additional info such as breed, sex, color etc. (additional info has to be supplied by puppy owner or we would take care of that also) We truly care about our pups and their new families and offer this to you for no extra charge.

AKC DNA PROFILES We have always believed in and supported the AKC. While researching Great Dane breeders we came across a very well know breeder from many years ago that was suspended for life from the AKC. We wondered how and why that had happened and the answer we found was because of falsifying records. We figured things like this happened but then began wondering how often it did. This led us to the AKC website and something they were doing about it....DNA for parentage. So we started looking into it. AKC is doing DNA on frequently used studs just to make sure pups were from the studs that their paperwork said they were from. We came across some info that said 96.? % was correct. Which seemed like a bit of a lower % than we had imagined. If true, that means 3 or 4 out of 100 was incorrectly registered. So 1 out of every 25-33 or so was wrong? That doesn't seem like good enough odds to us. So we are now DNA profiling all of our dogs so when you get a crazyhorsedane pup and we say the pup is from this sire and that dam, you can be sure it is. AKC doesn't require doing DNA on dogs being bred but hopefully in the near future they will so this problem can be solved.

AMERICAN KENNEL CLUB Crazyhorsedanes is a firm supporter of the AKC. I got my first AKC dog 27 years ago. I have had unregistered and dual registered dogs since but have never had a registered dog that wasn't AKC since. As far as our danes go, we will never own or produce any that are not AKC. There are a lot of other registries out there (We have included a few below) but we believe they are worthless. They
are used as a way to sale "registered" or "papered" puppies to unknowing families that may think that that is a sign of a quality puppy. All registries, even the AKC are used to register dogs and record their lineage, not to prove any kind of quality. With the AKC only puppies from AKC parents can be registered, so to most people it is a way to insure "purebred" bloodlines. This is not the case with other registries. See examples below which were taken word for word from their websites. Some require pictures and witnesses, some only require filling out the papers. Either way is a joke. It's now wonder there are so many danes out there that do not look like a dane. Another reason breeders use other registries is because they have been suspended from the AKC for various reasons. Also it is quite popular to buy AKC "pet quality" danes with limited registration (no breeding rights) then turn around and register them with another registery with full breeding rights and then breed them and sell puppies under the other registry. CKC is famous for letting breeders do this. So if you want a purebred puppy from a responsible breeder you might also support the AKC and only consider an AKC pup. |
Dogs over 6 months of age which have no previous Registration history may be registered by providing 2 witness signatures attesting to the purebred status of the dog along with 3 photos (front, left and right) of the dog to confirm it is ‘of proper breed type’ as defined by our current CKC Registration Rules and Regulations.
